CPPE launch foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21

Introduction from CPPE
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Foundation pharmacist programme 2020/21.

Health Education England (HEE) announced the launch of the HEE Interim Foundation Pharmacist programme (IFPP) on 3 August 2020. The 12-month IFPP will support the 2019/20 cohort of pre-registration pharmacists who join the provisional register. HEE has worked with partner organisations to develop and deliver this programme.

CPPE is a partner organisation and we are delivering a 12-month programme for provisionally registered pharmacists (PRPs) who work in community pharmacy. Some employers, such as Boots, have internal programmes which will take priority over the CPPE programme. PRPs who have access to internal programmes should use those rather than the CPPE programme.

Our foundation programme offers a comprehensive mix of online tutor-supported study, learning activities, workshops and assessment. You will also be supported by a CPPE education supervisor throughout the programme who will support you with personal development planning and conducting practice-based assessments and feedback. This mix of workplace support and assessment will allow you to apply and develop learning in a practice environment.

The topics covered in the programme include leadership, consultation skills, person-centred care and application of clinical knowledge and skills with evidence-informed decision making. The range of modules will help equip you to work confidently and competently as part of diverse multi-professional, multi-sector teams.

Applications for the programme are now open and the programme will start on 7 September 2020. Learners can enrol anytime over the next few weeks.
