Central Health Solutions Limited was established in 2017 as a pharmacy provider company to work on the 
behalf of pharmacy contractors in our local area and to enable it to enter into contracts with commissioners and then sub-contract to pharmacy members as appropriate.
LPCs are restricted from holding and administering contracts for the provision of services however earlier in 2017 your local LPC recognised the importance of establishing a pharmacy provider company to satisfy a commissioner’s preference for a single entity when procuring services. Since then your LPC has been working to develop a corporate structure that is open to all contractors. By creating a limited company with 4 Directors running the day-to-day operation of the provider company the chosen structure flexible and inclusive as it allows the multiples to join without having to be shareholders.
Having pharmacy services provided through Central Health offers a number of advantages for commissioners as they would have just one contract to manage. For contractors the key benefit is it ensure that all pharmacies, irrespective of size, are be able to compete and tender for services alongside other qualified providers.
A pharmacy provider company provides independent and multiple pharmacies with an effective route in which to tender for services and adapt to the growing use of electronic tendering platforms used by local authorities and CCGs. Community pharmacy must protect itself and a pharmacy provider company does offer some extra security.
